Author Summary: The baseline for Peruvian cotton genetic diversity, published in 2020, compiles historical and technical information on three species of the Gossypium genus present in the country: G. barbadense, G. hirsutum, and G. raimondii. Between 2012 and 2019, prospecting studies were carried out in various regions, floral biology and gene flow analyses were performed, and native varieties were identified. This systematization provides a key tool for decision-making in biosafety in accordance with the Cartagena Protocol.
